OpenSSL 3.4 and 3.6 End of Life
The OpenSSL 3.4 and 3.6 series have reached End of Life (EOL). As such, they will no longer receive publicly available security fixes.
OpenSSL 3.4 was released on 22 October 2024 as a regular release. Per the library’s release strategy at the time, non-LTS releases received 2 years of public support. OpenSSL 3.4 has reached its EOL as of 22 October 2026.
OpenSSL 3.6 was released on 1 October 2025 as a regular release. Per the current library release strategy, non-LTS regular releases receive 13 months of public support. OpenSSL 3.6 has reached its EOL as of 1 November 2026.
If you are still using OpenSSL 3.4 or 3.6, now is the time to upgrade to a more recent version. Our most recent version is OpenSSL 4.1, which will be supported until 23 November 2027. Also available is OpenSSL 3.5, which is a long term support (LTS) release and will be supported until 8 April 2030.
Extended support (i.e. ongoing access to security fixes beyond the public EOL date) is available through a support contract for long term support (LTS) releases only, so it does not cover 3.4 or 3.6. If you cannot upgrade in time, OpenSSL Corporation can discuss support for these versions outside its standard support agreement; see the support contracts page.
